A set of travellers living in five caravans have been told they have until noon on Tuesday to vacate Westlands Playing Field in Chadwell Heath.
A Havering Council park protection team have been in place at the site since the group arrived on Saturday.
On Monday they were served papers saying if they did not leave by tomorrow they would be taken to court.
The occupied area is adjacent to West Ham Football Club’s training ground.
Cllr Melvin Wallace, cabinet member for culture and community engagement, said: “We won’t tolerate any unauthorised settlement in our parks or green spaces.
“We’re monitoring the situation and served the travellers with a notice yesterday to leave the site.
“We’re working with the police and we will also have security in place at all times until they leave.”
