Travellers have moved on to green space in Harold Hill.

The strip of land between Chudleigh Road and Whitchurch road is now dotted with white caravans.

This is the fifth site to be occupied by people from the travelling community in the week.

Sites in Hornchurch, Harold Hill, Gidea Park and Romford have also been used.

It is not known whether the groups are connected.

The council has serviced up notices to travellers on some of the sites and said they will be evicted if they do not leave.

Cllr Osman Dervish, cabinet member for regulatory services, previously spoke to the Recorder about the situation.

He said: “We are aware that we have an influx of determined travellers in the borough.”
