Travellers have settled in Harold Hill over the weekend and at a closed petrol station in Romford.

About 10 caravans have been parked on the green in Wincanton Road, Harold Hill, opposite The Bear pub, since Friday.

Havering Council has confirmed they are the same travellers that set up camp in Priory Road, Harold Hill, last week.

The travellers were served with an eviction notice on Friday which requires them to leave by the end of today.

Five caravans have also settled at a closed petrol station in Eastern Avenue, Romford.

The site is being monitored by Havering Council and the land owner has been informed.

A council spokesman said: “To make sure we do not get an increase in traveller encampments that cause disruption, we are reviewing our strategy and will be working with other boroughs and external agencies to tackle this challenge.”
