Two police officers were taken to Queens Hospital after their car collided with another vehicle at the Gallows Corner flyover on Sunday afternoon.

The officers had been on an emergency call when they collided with the white BMW just after 5pm.

Both officers were taken by ambulance to hospital – the 39-year-old woman with a suspected broken hand and the 31-year-old man for shock.

They had been on their way to reports of youngsters throwing stones from a bridge on the A12 when they collided with the other car.

Two days later, Transport for London was still carrying out repairs to the damaged flyover in Romford.

The A127 eastbound is currently closed. Westbound traffic is unaffected.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
