Traffic is currently slow on the M25 coming up to the Romford exit at Junction 28 after a lorry suffered gearbox issues and Highways Officers were unable to tow the vehicle away.

Highways England confirmed in a tweet that they had been called to the clockwise M25 just before the Brook Street roundabout.

It said:: “Our officers halted traffic to move stranded fully laden HGV.

“Towing it was unsuccessful as HGV has suffered a gearbox issue preventing wheels rolling. Heavy recovery needed.

“Traffic will be released in moment once lane closure in place.”

UPDATE: Two of four lanes have now been opened but traffic remains slow.
