Commuters were experiencing delays from Romford to West Horndon this morning after a car accident.

The incident happened at 7.15am on the A127 in West Horndon near the junction to the A128 when a red Ford Fiesta spun on the carriageway and collided with a blue Renault Clio, which was stationary.

Essex Police said there were no injuries, but the road was closed while the vehicles were cleared. The road has now reopened.

The East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) said it was the fourth incident they were called to in Essex this morning and have advised motorists to drive carefully and stay safe as the weather conditions this morning have caused problems throughout the region on the roadways.

EEAST spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “We are asking anyone who is driving this morning to watch their speed and allow plenty of time for breaking. The rain is continuing to fall and the spray on the roads reduces the visibility greatly.”
