Three tipper trucks and a 13 tonne mechanical digger were damaged by a fire yesterday at an open yard in Dennis Lane, Upminster.

Six fire engines were called to the scene at 7.17pm, including a vehicle from Hornchurch, to tackle the fire using a hose reel, two jets, breathing equipment and a thermal imaging camera.

A spokesperson from the London Fire Brigade said: “ Three tipper trucks and a mechanical digger were 100 per cent damaged by fire and a tipper lorry was 5 per cent damaged by fire.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
