Free lung checks in Hornchurch to detect COPD
HEALTH professionals estimate over 10,000 people in Havering may be unaware that they have serious and possibly life-threatening lung disease.
Sufferers of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), an umbrella term of lung conditions including to chronic bronchitis and emphysema often mistake the breathlessness associated with COPD as the results of smoking, being unfit or getting older.
People can put their minds at rest with a free lung check with Havering’s NHS Respiratory Team on Wednesday (November 17) from 10am to 3pm, in the canteen at St George’s Hospital, Suttons Lane, Hornchurch.
COPD kills around 30,000 people a year in Britain.
