A teenager has been given a community order for carrying an eight-inch knife in the street.

Michael Sobowale, 19, of Petersfield Avenue, Harold Hill, was caught with a kitchen knife in Victoria Road, Romford, in March.

Appearing at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on October 12, he was given an order including 15 days in rehab and a curfew to remain at home between 7pm-7am for six weekends.

He had pleaded not guilty.

He must pay £620 in costs and a victim surcharge of £60. He was ordered to hand the 20cm knife (approximately 7.9in) over to police for destruction.
