Council staff and local volunteers will team up for a clean up event in Hornchurch later this month.

Volunteers and council staff will be picking litter and planting flowers and shrubs in Artesian Close from 10am to 1pm on April 28 as part of Havering Council’s Green and Clean campaign.

The event is being run in partnership with the Artesian Close Residents’ Association and chairwoman Brenda Hughes is looking forward to giving the area some much needed TLC.

“Artesian Close is a pleasant place to live but can always be better which is why we are taking part in this Clean and Green Day when volunteers will be joining Housing Services staff to plant some more flowers and shrubs,” said Brenda.

“We hope they will make the gardens even more pleasant for us to enjoy during the summer.”

Cllr Damian White cabinet member for housing said: “Each month until October the Housing Services Community Engagement Team is coordinating clean-ups on different housing estates across Havering and we hope local residents will join in and help us make their area look good.”
