Hundreds of people celebrated summer at the annual Rainham Summer Festival.

There were plenty of smiling faces and happy families at the event on Saturday June 9 at Newtons Primary School in Lowen Road, Rainham.

Jenette Ogborn, one of the organisers of the event, said: “It was a fantastic day.

“The weather held out and everyone had lots of fun.”

Highlights of the day included a performance by the Rainham Newtonettes, and singer Keeley Ogborn.

Band, New Project kept the crowds entertained, while youngsters had fun getting their faces painted, having a go on the bouncy castles and learning circus skills.

There was also a special visit from Havering Mayor Cllr Lynden Thorpe.

The event was organised by the Mardyke Community Centre Summer Festival Committee.

All the money raised from the day is set to go towards organising next year’s event.

The committee is also appealing for volunteers who can help to organise more community days.
