A new Hornchurch charity shop announced its presence with a ‘Zumbathon’ in the street on Saturday.
The Sue Ryder shop in North Street held the two-hour dance event, led by instructor Carlos McKenzie, on the pavement in front of the store.
Those taking part raised �175 for the charity in the baking heat in just two hours.
Shop manager Lorraine Locke said: “It went really well, we wanted to let people know that we’re here and of the sort of work the charity does.
“It provides palliative care for people with neurological conditions, and also support for families.”
She added: “We also wanted to let people know that we have a drop off point behind the shop where people can park their care to make donations.”
The shop sells both new and used goods, including women’s and men’s clothing, bric-a-brac, books and DVDs.
