CARING students added a little bit of festive cheer to the residents of a nursing home when they went over to sing for them last week.
The Francis Bardsley School Choir based in Brentwood Road, Romford paid a visit to Abbs Cross Nursing Home in Brentwood Road, Romford last Thursday December 16.
The school’s pastoral assistant and one of the organisers of the event, Connie Tarling said; “The students were really humbled to go to see the residents of the care home because a lot of them are not able to get out much so to see them singing and joining in with the carols brought a lup to my throat.”
The visit saw the students getting the residents into the festive spirit with a number of classic Christmas tunes including Silent Night, We Wish You A Merry Christmas and many more.
The event is part of a longer running project at the school to encourage the students to take more of an active role in older people in the community.
Last month the students also threw a Wartime tea party for the residents at their school.
Connie said: “It was so fascinating to see the students listening so intently to residents’ memories of the war and the whole thing was just amazing watching these two groups mixing so well together.”
