The progress of the Harold Hill Ambitions project was discussed at Havering’s cabinet meeting last night - more than five years since its inception.
Members at the Town Hall agreed to note its successes, with centrepieces of the scheme being the myplace youth centre, Drapers Academy and the development of new housing and a library.
Cllr Steven Kelly (Emerson Park, Conservative), who has spearheaded the scheme, said it was “changing attitudes” towards the area.
However, Cllr Keith Darvill (Heaton, Labour) said there had been some “negatives” among the positives and that Cllr Kelly’s speech was “very optimistic”.
A number of residents who sent the Recorder tweets during the meeting said Harold Hill still needed many improvements, but others defended the area.
More to follow.
