Midfielder Damian Scannell set to join Eastleigh from Dagenham & Redbridge.

Daggers have agreed to allow winger Damian Scannell to rejoin Blue Square South side Eastleigh, subject to a medical.

Scannell has made 17 appearances for John Still’s side this season, but should complete his move to the Hampshire club before the weekend.

Still said: “The move should go through, subject to a medical, which he is having today (Wednesday).

“His contract was up at the end of the season and with players coming in we had to look at reducing the squad.”

Scannell spent 18 months with Eastleigh, before joining Southend United in January 2008.

The Spitfires hope to include the 26-year-old in the squad for their game against Thurrock on Saturday.

A statement on the Eastleigh website said: “Our thanks should go to Bridle, as their generous sponsorship has allowed us to sign this gifted player.”
