Stacey Solomon celebrates Romford mum’s £25k win at street party

Reality television star Stacey Solomon was a surprise guest at a Romford street party on Sunday, where a local mum was celebrating winning £25,000.
Melanie Lamb, 39, won the money in Iceland’s jubilee party competition, along with a Jubilee party pack of food and decorations.

Melanie said: “I have been overwhelmed with this win. There’s no doubt about it, Iceland has changed my life.
“I thought I was so lucky to win a party pack but to find out I’ve also won the top prize of £25,000 and have Stacey Solomon as celebrity guest at my party is just incredible.”
Melanie, who has two daughters; Sophie, 13, and Mollie, 11, entered the competition while doing her weekly shop at Iceland in Romford.
She said the prizes will make a “huge difference” to their lives.
She added: “I will pay off a few debts and take my daughters on holiday with the winnings – it’s been years since I’ve been able to even think about taking the girls away.”
Some of the money will also be donated to St Francis Hospice, where Melanie’s mum works as a nurse, and the Romford Drum and Trumpet Corps where her daughter plays.
The working mum was chosen as winner of the national competition after judges were impressed with her community work and dedication to being a single mum.
Stacey called Melanie “an inspiration to mums everywhere”.
She said: “I have so much respect for everything she does as a mum and for the local community.
“All the hard work she has put into organising the Jubilee party today is amazing – I’ve had a great time celebrating with all her friends and family.
“It’s fantastic that she’s been rewarded for her dedication as a parent and for her work in the community - she truly is an example to us all, and a true Essex girl.”
