Smokey’s Shack, the new restaurant on the site of former TOWIE hotspot the Brickyard has shut its doors, just days after opening.

The chicken restaurant opened last week (Wednesday, March 21) and last night (Sunday, March 25) it announced it would be closing to make its kitchen bigger.

A spokesman from Smokey’s said that they are hoping to be open again on Friday (March 30).

The restaurant is on the former site of The Brickyard in South Street, and was a was a popular place for the cast members of the ITV reality show ‘The Only Way is Essex’.

On social media Smokey’s released a statement which said: “Thank you to all the thousands who have visited us in the first four days of opening, unfortunately we have taken the decision to close for a few days, we aim to relaunch on Friday, March 30.

“With the mass volume of orders, we have decided to re-construct our kitchen to make it bigger and better!

“Smokey’s endeavours to deliver the highest quality of food and service to our customers, we truly underestimated the response and appeal for your understanding.
“As a family orientated independent business, we are finding ways to address the concerns of those who painstakingly queued to enjoy the Smokeys experience, yet went home disappointed.

“Again we send our sincerest apologies and hope to see you on our relaunch.”
