Talented young athletes will be able to reach their full potential thanks to a new sponsorship scheme.

The Sporting Champions scheme, from Everyone Active, will provide the Havering’s most promising sportsmen and women with free access to their sports centres across the borough as well as funding for training.

The sponsorships are split into three categories of bronze, silver and gold.

Bronze offers free access to all Everyone Active centres, silver includes a £1,000 sponsorship and those who qualify for gold will receive £5,000.

The initiative was launched last year by Olympic sprinter Colin Jackson and has supported 130 athletes.

“As a leisure provider working in partnership with the council, we feel it is important to cater for all sectors of the community, including emerging talent,” said David Bibby, managing director at Everyone Active.

“Since launching last year, Everyone Active Sporting Champions has been very successful in supporting local athletes by reducing their financial burden.

“We hope to continue making a real difference to our athlete’s success.”

Both male and female athletes from Havering qualify for the scheme and to apply go to easportingchampions.com/apply-now/

Everyone Active runs the Hornchurch Sports Centre, Hornchurch Road, Central Park Leisure Centre, in Romford, and Chafford Sports Complex, in Rainham, in partnership with Havering Council.
