A sensory garden has been created at Chadwell Heath Residential Care home by staff from the local Sainsbury’s.
Store manager Gareth Powell and produce manager Ken Pocock were among those who visited the care home on Wednesday, armed with shovels, spades, seeds and bulbs.
Lorna Lawrence, from Sainsbury’s, said: “It needed some work and it was hard in the heat but it was good to see the elderly residents who pottered about.
“They have a lovely green space and I think they will really enjoy it when it is up and running. It was nice to do something for them, especially as for many of the residents it is their last place of rest.”
The Sainsbury’s staff plan re-visit the care home to create a vegetable patch at a later date.
