Sad ending for missing Mojo the cat from Elm Park

A missing moggy who bore a striking likeness to Bagpuss the TV cat was found following an appeal in the Recorder - but later died during surgery.
Persian kitty Mojo, who had an online Instagram fanbase of more than 460 followers, did not recover from an operation last week to remove an ulcerated eye.
Owner Emma Jenkins, 31, said: “It was a bittersweet ending and a rollercoaster of emotions. At least I got to spend his last night with him.”
The elderly cat had gone walkabouts from Canberra Close, Elm Park during last month’s storms but was found by an elderly couple and returned.
Emma, a PDSA nurse, had adopted the 12-year-old microchipped animal after his original owner went into a care home three years ago.
She had said of Mojo: “He [was] just like Bagpuss; so sweet, lovely and cuddly.”
This week she told Mojo’s Instgram followers of his death.
“Mojo is now safe and will be buried at home with a new blossom tree I bought,” she wrote. “He was cuddly and purring all his life. He loved fluffy things, catnip and pressing his face on my neck. He could never meow for some reason. He loved dogs and other kitties and even rabbits.”
Mojo’s online friends have been mourning his death.
Follower lucymacats wrote: “I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. Mojo has left a cat-shaped hole in the hearts of his followers. He was so loved.”
Another, lucythepersiancat, added: “Oh I am so sorry! He was such a cutie sweet fluff muffin. I always had a thing for him.”
