Olympic rower Mark Hunter received a special Mayor’s Award at last night’s Havering Council meeting.
Mark, who attended Havering Sixth Form College, won a silver medal in the men’s lightweight double sculls, along with his partner Zac Purchase, at the Games in London last month.
The 34-year-old had already won a gold medal at the Beijing 2008 Games, after which he was awarded the freedom of Havering.
Councillors and members of the public clapped as Mayor Cllr Lynden Thorpe presented him with the new award.
