A new oak tree has been planted in the grounds of Havering’s registry office, thanks to a local rotary club.
Members of the Hornchurch and Upminster Rotary Club planted the new red oak at Langton’s House, Billet Lane, last week.
The tree was supplied by Rotarian Christine Smith, of Molly’s Florist in the same road.
The 4m sapling was planted to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Rotary Club press officer, Dick Palmer, said: “It was great to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by beatifying one of Havering’s most pleasant historic houses and gardens.”
