A Romford shop has issued a recall notice for a skin cream which has been found to contain a banned substance.

Skin Light Cream products were sold by Romford Hair and Beauty in High Street.

Safety checks by Havering Council on a tub of the cream has shown that it contains hydroquinone, which can cause skin and liver problems.

Customers are advised to return the cream to the shop to get a full refund.

The problems came to light following a joint project with councils from across north east London. Havering cabinet member for public protection, Cllr Lesley Kelly, said: “There will be no quibble and the shop can give you advice on other safer products that may be available.”
