Our guide to the weekend’s non-league fixtures

Saturday

Ryman Division 1N

Romford v Heybridge (3pm)

Romford boss Paul Martin wants his men to bounce back quickly after midweek defeat against Maldon.

Boro slipped to a 3-0 home defeat against the Ryman Division One North leaders and entertain Swifts at Ship Lane tomorrow.

Martin said: “There is no shame in losing to the league leaders with the form they are in, but we’ll look to bounce back.

“The only worrying thing is that we haven’t scored in our last two but there is no need to panic.

“Hopefully things will start falling kindly to us up front now, starting with Heybridge.

“It’ll be another tough one, but we are confident we can pick up something.”

Friendly

Hornchurch v Grays (12pm)

Urchins welcome Ryman Division One North side to Bridge Avenue for a high noon friendly.

Jimmy McFarlane’s men battled to a 1-0 win over Conference South rivals Eastleigh last weekend, ending their five-game losing run.

An early Rimmel Daniel goal proved enough for the points and they will aim to give players valuable minutes this weekend, before an Essex Senior Cup tie at Canvey on Tuesday.

Chairman Colin McBride said: “It was a much-needed win and we’re getting people back from injury.

“Some, like Reiss (Noel), haven’t played for five or six weeks so we want to top them up.

“Canvey is a good one for us. It’s another 90 minutes for some of them before a really difficult game against Hayes (on December 1).

“If we can get some more points before Christmas and get away from the bottom, then we can see where we go. It’s a difficult league.”
