Romford school’s gift of hope

CHRISTMAS has come early for one African school, thanks to an inspiring project by Romford youngsters.
Students and staff at St Edwards Church of England & Sixth Form College, in London Road, last week sent a 20ft container jam-packed with equipment to a developing school in Gambia.
The gift included schooling and medical equipment and is the result of more than one year’s fundraising.
The carefully packed container is now well on its way to the Jamisa Upper Basic School in Brikama, a building with no electricity and few teaching resources.
Director of Language College Anne Bryden said: “Fostering an international dimension in our school is very important to us. It brings learning to life and builds trust and understanding between cultures and communities.
“We are very proud of our student’ efforts to support our partner school in this way.
