ROMFORD’S congested ring road is set to get a much-needed makeover as part of a multimillion pound grant announced by TfL today.
More than �4million will be pumped into Havering traffic schemes over the next three years, including new cycling facilities, road repairs and safety measures.
As part of the multimillion pound windfall:
• �150,000 will be spent on tackling congestion and making street improvements around Romford’s ring road.
• �250,000 will be used on a new cycle and footpath from Harold Hill to Rainham.
• �100,000 has been allocated to reducing accidents in the Collier Row area.
London mayor Boris Johnson said: “This funding will allow the boroughs to make real improvements to town centres, provide better cycling facilities and make roads safer across the Capital.
“I’m especially pleased we have been able to cut the red tape that used to surround these schemes and give the boroughs more freedom to choose how they want to spend money to improve their local communities.”
