Romford’s MP Andrew Rosindell hopes BBC Newsnight will “grow up” after it played the Sex Pistols version of ‘God Save the Queen’.
The Conservative MP’s comments come after the programme responded to his request for BBC One to play the national anthem at the end of each programming day in a comic way.
Mr Rosindell claims his “reasonable request” would be a fitting way to honour Brexit and Her Majesty’s 90th birthday this year.
He said: “BBC Newsnight playing the Sex Pistols ‘God Save the Queen’ was quite juvenile and poor taste in response to a reasonable request from an MP to play our national anthem.
“I hope that they will now grow up and take this request seriously, rather than play a song that is insulting to our Monarchy.”
