A rail worker from Romford has retired after 50 years of working on the railways.

Alan Faulkner’s colleagues at Greater Anglia’s Ilford depot came together on Friday to say their goodbyes.

Alan started his career as an engineering apprentice in St Pancras, before working at Ilford and Liverpool Street as a fitter, before becoming a yard assistant in recent years.

Dave Lupton, Greater Anglia’s Fleet Production Manager said: “Alan has given 50 years of dedicated service to the railway. He is unique, very generous and always ready to help.

“We would like to thank him for his efforts and wish him a very happy retirement.”
