An awards evening for progress and effort in art, drama and music was held at a school last week.

The event, held at St Edward’s Church of England School and Sixth Form College, London Road, Romford, included a fashion show, an extract from Blood Brothers and musical presentations.

David Torn, deputy head called the celebration a “testament” to the excellence of the school’s young people.

“It is a celebration of much that is good within education,” he said. “‘What we have seen is a testament to the excellence of our young people at St Edward’s today.”

Each class had two nominations and all received a certificate and department pin to wear on their blazer.

But four teenagers - Yetunde Fadojutimi, Genevieve Lewis, Elizabeth Akeju, Archie Bond - received an award in all the three areas.
