Her pictures are bound to draw an “aah” from even the most hard-hearted.
She is Romford photographer Diane Brown, who specialises in family portraits including mums-to-be, newborns, toddlers and now even pets.
Her “pawtraits” have not gone unnoticed – as her image of two young whippets has been nominated for a national award.
Diane, who has a studio in Stapleford Abbotts, will compete for the pet photographer of the year prize in the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers’ annual contest.
She said: “Pets are as much a family member as a spouse or child. I genuinely love having animals in my studio, although it can be certainly be a challenge to achieve the perfect photograph!
“I strive to bring out the uniqueness of each pet and, in turn, create an enduring image which will be treasured by the owner.”
Diane, who worked in banking and IT, became a professional photographer in 2010 after being made redundant.
“I was fascinated by newborn photography,” she said. “Because the images I saw were so beautiful and clearly required a lot of skill to create.”
For the photographer, who will discover if she has won the award on January 18, her career change has provided her with a new lease of life.
“I love capturing the intensity of human emotions and interactions through the camera’s lens,” she said.
“Of being able to freeze forever that first look, that first smile, or tentative step.”
