Take a look at these pictures of some of Havering’s most confident canines
The four legged animals were entered into the annual Happy Hounds Show at Central Park in Harold Hill on Sunday by their faithful owners.
The photographs were taken by Recorder readers and uploaded on the Recorder’s photosharing website iwitness.
Prizes were up for grabs in the competition in categories such as waggiest tail and cutest puppy.
John Bolt, whose dog Jack walked away with a prize for handsome male said: “It was a brilliant day.
“Jack seemed really pleased to win and he was really happy with his prize.”
The show had something for everyone.
Younger visitors took advantage of the bouncy castle and everybody could watch the flyball display by the Staffordshire bull terriers.
They could then visit the animal related trade and charity stalls.
The show was organised by Havering Council to promote responsible dog ownership in the borough.
Residents were able to receive free micro-chipping from the Dogs Trust, as well as free pooper scoopers, dog mess bags and Dog Watch stickers as part of the council’s Cleaner Havering campaign, which aims to tackle dog mess.
Cabinet member for Housing and Public Protection, Cllr Lesley Kelly, said:
“The Happy Hounds show is now in its third year and with over a thousand residents turning up this year it proves that Havering is a borough full of dog lovers.”
