Classic car enthusiasts helped a theatre go back to the roaring twenties and the glamorous era of flappers and extravagance for the opening night of a show about the jazz age.
Members of Havering Classic Car Club displayed their vehicles outside Queen’s Theatre in Hornchurch, ahead of the production of The Great Gatsby by Cut to The Chase, which is adapted by Peter Joucla and based on the novel by F Scott Fitzgerald.

Club chairman Cllr Nic Dodin said: “The Great Gatsby was a bit of a ladies’ man and he used his classic cars to charm them, so we used the cars as promotion.
“It was absolutely brilliant, all the people were going in saying we used to have one of those, and grandparents were showing their grandchildren how they worked, as they didn’t have automatic gearboxes then,” he added.
