Tasha the pregnant chihuahua, dressed as Minnie Mouse, was crowned cutest dog at a charity walk on Sunday.

She was chosen by judges at mental health charity Havering Mind’s first ever dog walk.

The event, held to raise awareness of mental health issues, was in Harrow Lodge Park, Hornchurch.

More than 100 dogs took part and received goody bags and certificates after walking 3.5km with their owners.

Doggy stalls offered services ranging from the chance for the canines to get photographed by a professional, to check-ups from the local vet.

The charity raised more than £1,000 thanks to the high turnout.

Fundraising co-ordinator Ciaran White said: “The event was about getting local people involved in our charity and promoting how animals and nature can have a positive effect on a person’s well-being.”

Ciaran added that it was “fantastic” to see so many people from the local community coming out to support the charity and, thanks to the event’s success, more dog walks will be on the agenda in the future.
