A woman and a man from Romford have been arrested in connection with a suspected brothel in Shenfield.

Following reports of “unusual activity” at a flat near Shenfield Library, Hutton Road, Essex Police raided the address at 6.30pm on Monday, where they arrested the 46-year-old woman and 67-year-old man.

The pair have been bailed until January, pending further enquiries.

Neighbourhood policing Sgt James Howell said: “We were contacted at the beginning of November with information which suggested unusual activity taking place at this flat in Shenfield.

“This is another example of partnership policing with the local community, and illustrates the effectiveness of the community – retailers and residents – working with us to make the neighbourhood a safe place to live and work in.”
