A high street retailer has been busy collecting cash for a war heroes charity.
Staff from Marks and Spencer, in South Street, Romford, put on cake-making workshops, football matches and coin collections to raise more than £3,900 for Help For Heroes.
The money will be used to provide a sensory garden for Chavasse VC House, Colchester, a Help For Heroes recovery centre for wounded servicemen.
The Hope On The Horizon garden, which won the people’s choice award at the Chelsea Flower Show, is being relocated to the recovery centre.
Romford M&S finance manager Roz Guy, 59, said: It’s lovely that they could come in so we could give them the cheque.”
The Marks and Spencer branch chooses a charity every year to fundraise for and this year’s events were organised by staff member Teresa Bailey, from Romford.
Mrs Guy added: “The best thing is getting everyone involved - it’s been really good and it’s such a good cause that people have really got behind it.”
