A 53-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

A 53-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.


A 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an elderly woman was taken to hospital with a head injury.

Police attended an East London hospital at about 9.30pm on April 9, following a report of a woman from Rosebury Gardens, Upminster, who suffered a head injury following a suspected stroke – the woman died in the early hours of the morning on Saturday.

Officers have been present at her Upminster home for the past few days.

A special post-mortem was scheduled and police await the results of this examination.

The 53-year-old man who was arrested on Friday has since been bailed pending further enquiries to a date May.

Detectives from Havering CID are investigating and enquires continue.

The death is currently being treated as suspicious.
