THERE was no shortage of festive spirit at the Romford Drum And Trumpet Corps' Christmas Concert.

The musical troupe performed their end of year and Christmas concert in front of a crowd of about 150 people despite the weekend’s arctic temperatures on Sunday December 19 at Corpus Christie Church in Lowshoe Lane, Collier Row.

Secretary of the band, Kerry Binder said: “It was a really amazing turn out despite the extreme weather conditions.

“There was also a massive audience participation and everyone really got into the mood for Christmas.”

The concert, which was also attended by Havering Mayor Cllr Pam Light and Col Markham Bryant saw the troupe performing classics like We Wish You A Merry Christmas, Silent Night and a special audience particpation of The Twelve Days Of Christmas.

The concert was also a celebration of the band’s year which saw them signing over a lease for the former Ingrebourne School in Thornton Road, Harold Hill which is set to become their new home.

Kerry said: “It has been a really busy year for us but it has been very productive.

“Now that we have got somewhere that we can call home, we are looking forward to having an official opening and hoping to recruit new members from the community.”
