Residents at a care home were treated to a number of relaxation therapies as part of Dignity Action Day.

Ebury Court Home in Rush Green Road, Romford also celebrated the event, which aims to highlight the need for compassion in care for older people with a visit from Councillor Melvin Wallace (Con, Mawneys).

Cllr Wallace said: “It was clear to me that maintaining the dignity of the residents is hugely important here. These types of events are extremely important to the local community and very worthwhile.”

Michelle Andreou, a holistic therapist at Ebury Court and her colleague gave mini-massages, pedicures and manicures to residents who finished the day relaxing with glasses of champagne and home-made cupcakes.

Beverley Manzar, manager at the home said: “Dignity for older people is a basic human right and not an optional extra. We’re grateful once again to Cllr Wallace who is a great supporter of the care home and our Dignity Day events.”
