A ukulele band with a Havering core made an appearance on hit television show Come Dine With Me.
D’Ukes, who include John Mattock from Romford and Martin Burdikin from Hornchurch among their ensemble, provided the entertainment for contestant Anthony Street from Colchester, a fan and friend of the group.
The Channel 4 show brings together a bunch of strangers to compete for the title of ultimate dinner party host.
The retired Mr Mattock, 64, said: “When John asked us to help we were only too happy to oblige.
“We performed ‘I Want to Marry a Lighthouse Keeper’ by Erika Eigen.
“It wasn’t our usual electric sound but the song was appropriate as Anthony runs the Lighthouse Sandwhich Shop in Colchester.”
D’Ukes are performing at Brookside Theatre in Eastern Road, Romford on Saturday, March 22.
Tickets are available from £12, call 01708 755775 or visit www.brooksidethreate.com for more information.
