Collier Row residents can breath a sigh of relief after a proposal to move a bus stop was rejected by the council.

The suggested relocation of a stop in Chase Cross Road will not happen due to complaints that it would disrupt parking outside Chase Cross Baptist Church and visibility for drivers coming out of surrounding streets on to the main road.

Cllr Robert Benham, cabinet member for the environment, said: “We of course did a lot of background research and consultation around this, however, the proposal to relocate one of the bus stops was rejected due to various objections and a petition from residents.”

Several other proposed relocations of stops in the area were accepted as part of the council’s programme to improve bus stop accessibility.
