Residents alert firefighters to Hornchurch shed fire

Firefighters tackled a blaze at a row of sheds on Sunday after receiving more than 20 emergency calls from residents.

Thick black smoke could be seen for miles at the weekend after a fire broke out at the rear of Abbs Cross Lane, Hornchurch, at around midday.

The fire gutted three sheds and left two cars damaged.

Crews from Harold Hill, Barking and Walthamstow attended the incident who got the flames under control by 12.49pm.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
