The bright, colourful designs have been sent to MP Jon Cruddas, who faced the challenge of selecting just one to be sent out to more than 3,000 of his constituents.

Mr Cruddas said: “It’s been another fantastic competition, with another year of sleepless nights for me!

“I’ve been hard pressed to choose the winner this time round as there were so many great cards.”

After a long period of deliberation Jon selected Kamila Andziulyte, of Marsh Green Primary School, South Close, Dagenham, as the winner.

Mr Cruddas also selected two runners up and a winner and runner up from each school that participated in the competition.

All the winners and runners up will meet Mr Cruddas and Father Christmas at a presentation evening on December 4.

Mr Cruddas said: “As with last year, we are giving the winning pupils the chance to choose a prize, asking them what they really want for Christmas. Instead of presenting the children with pre-chosen prizes.”
