A dream has come true for a university student who has landed a role volunteering at the Rio Olympics.

Second-year physiotherapy student Bruna De Figueiredo, 41, is hoping to put her healing hands to good use.

The mum-of-three, originally from Brazil, moved to London 12 years ago and now lives in Rainham Road, Rainham and attends the University of East London.

“My plan was also to try and get a placement with Team GB, but they decided not to take any students,” she said.

“So I sent an email to the Olympics consulate, explaining that I was already volunteering at the games, to see whether I could get a placement in physiotherapy in any other team.

“If they find me a placement at the Olympics it would be amazing.”

Bruna has also secured a five-week placement at a hospital in her home city, Fortaleza. The Rio Olympics start on August 5.
