A Year 10 student is thrilled to have come second in the international look and learn art competition.
Grace Lewis- Somers, from Brittons Academy, Ford Lane, Rainham, was shocked after hearing the news.
She said: “Art is my passion, I want to be an illustrator and author. This experience has been the best to showcase what I can do and to be acknowledged is great!”
Look and learn is a London based picture library and they run monthly online art competitions with a different theme.
Grace sent in her work to the ‘sea shell’ themed competition earlier this year. She was awarded second place in the 12-18 category and was given a personalised certificate and £25 prize money.
Her work will also remain in the permanent online gallery.
Head of art at the school, Dipti Pandey said: “GCSE students have attended workshop-style lessons to develop skills and we are helping them to unlock their potential.
“Grace has been a fantastic example to her peers and I’m sure she will continue to make more interesting pieces of art as she is aiming to achieve an A* GCSE grade.”
