Archant

A group of school-leavers organised some drinks and a buffet to catch up more than 60 years after leaving school.

A total of 45 people from the 1955 and 1950 classes of the Rainham Secondary Modern School, now the Chafford School, met-up at the Phoenix Pub, in Rainham on Saturday.
The group of old friends now in their mid-seventies and eighties have organised the annual reunion since 2002.

Derek West, 76, of Rainham, said everyone enjoyed themselves and had a good time.

“It was a really good turnout considering some people are in their eighties. One guy comes from Reading every year.

“The amusing part is that you go in asking who people are! We have all changed considerably.”
