Four fire engines called to Rainham blaze

Firefighters tackled a blaze in Rainham.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) sent 25 firefighters to tackle a fire in Launders Lane at 9.30am today (Wednesday, December 4).

A pile of rubbish in an underground area was alight.

The fire was contained underground and LFB handed the scene over to the Environment Agency.

Fire crews from Wennington, Dagenham, Hornchurch and Barking fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
