Commuters into central London saw an increase in the cost of their journey to work today as national rail fare increases were implemented across the country.
The cost of an annual season ticket with Greater Anglia between Romford and London, including travel within Zones 1-6, has risen 3.24% from £2,224 a year to £2,296.
A weekly Zone 1- 6 travel card will go up from £55.60 to £57.40, a rise of 3.24%.
A Greater Anglia spokesperson said: “Annual fare rises help to maintain investment in the railways and are determined largely by government policy as confirmed in the Autumn Statement. We are continuing to invest in improving our services for customers.”
Fares increases within the London Travelcard area on day tickets, season tickets, travelcards and Oyster Pay As You Go will apply from January 19.
