This week, Romford's Lorraine Moss and Harold Hill's Jan Sargent, who led the campaign against a solar park at Dagnam Park, pick their top 10 all-time favourite tunes.
I’m Not Afraid - Eminem
This record reminds me of many struggles that I have had in my life and the fact that if people stand together, we can make a difference.
He Lives In You – Lebo M
This is the song from The Lion King 2 which I sat and watched hundreds of time with my two boys when they were young. It makes me think of my mum who passed away when I was 21 and sends a strong message that when we lose a close relative part of them lives on in us and our children.
Jesus To A Child – George Michael
I think that this is a truly beautiful and enchanting love song.
When Doves Cry – Prince
I was devastated when he passed away. I loved all his songs. This one was the first Prince song I ever bought.
Cherish – Madonna
It is such an upbeat song and reminds me of my two sons.
AS – Stevie Wonder
Taken from the first album that I ever bought, Songs in the Key of Life. Although Stevie Wonder is blind I would swear that this song was written by someone who could actually see the beauty of rosebuds blooming in early May.
Aladdin Sane – David Bowie
The piano solo leaves me completely mesmerised. So powerful and random, like chimes in a windstorm.
Bright Eyes – Art Garfunkel
Taken from the film Watership Down. This made such an dramatic impression on me. It made me realise just how much the development of the human world is impacting on our beautiful natural environment.
Enter the Sandman – Metallica
The first song my son performed. It also reminds me of my head-banging nights at the Ruskin Arms in East Ham.
Heal the World – Michael Jackson.
“Make this a better place, for me and for you and the whole entire race.” Enough said!!
