Firefighters and the RSPCA helped rescue a lucky black cat from a car engine in Elm Park.
Cherub, a black cat was chased by a dog in Woodlane, Elm Park at around 1pm on Wednesday, September 19.
Somehow she ended up stuck in a nearby car engine and needed assistance from firefighters and the RSPCA to get her out.
Much to the owner’s relief, Cherub eventually found her way out of the engine and was unharmed.
Paul Dykes was part of the team that helped rescue Cherub. He told the Recorder that he it wasn’t one of the typical calls they get.
He said: “You could just see that the 94-year-old man [Cherub’s owner] was really didn’t want the cat to be hurt.
“We had to remove bits of the car, but Cherub decided to come out through the bonnet anyway, with a man from the RSCPA helping coax it out.”
