Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man with a knife threatened a couple in a park.

The incident took place at about 7.20pm on Monday at Bishops Hall Park, Brentwood, when the couple in their 30s were walking their dog.

The man approached the couple near the park’s basketball court and started swearing at them before revealing a kitchen knife.

The couple managed to run away from the man and got home safely.

The man is described as white, stocky and about 35-years-old. He had short, shaved blonde hair, was wearing a plum coloured jumper and dark jeans. The man was walking a white Staffordshire bull terrier at the time.

Investigating officer Sgt Alex Black said: “A similar incident happened a few days before when a woman was walking her dog in the park and was sworn at by a man of a similar description.”

Anyone with information in connection with the incident is being urged to call Essex Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
